"I GOT BLISTERS ON MY FINGERS!"

I can totally relate.

Anyway, last week (or maybe the week before...), it was said in one of my favourite kids shows, Ruby Gloom.
I then spent a few days trying to remember what song I'd heard it from. Turns out it's from the very very end of Helter Skelter by The Beatles.
OF COURSE!

"Cleaning"

I have to clean up my desk and... well, the entire room today. If I had my camera, I'd take a photo to show just how much crap is piled up here, but I don't, so I can't. It's a lot, anyway. I attempted going through boxes of my old school work/assorted writing-drawing books earlier. Ended up sitting cross-legged on the floor choosing my favourites and putting them into new boxes and then cleaning a self in my closet to put the box on. Long story short, cleaning seems to bring out the OCD in me.
Anyway, I've decided I'd much rather watch the video for Mark David Chapman instead. Enjoy.

More Geekdom

From ThinkGeek. I need me a credit card. I also need to stop looking through fashion blogs and online stores and hurry up and clean up the big piles of paper on the desk.

Now playing: Aladdin - Friend Like Me

Because my camera is missing, but my scanner is not.

Made myself a cassette tape wallet. Then I discovered it made a great crash-proof case for my iPod. And yes, I did end up covering the bottom with electrical tape.

Now playing: Gyroscope - Doctor, Doctor

I am such a nerd.

From Hot Topic.

Say what you want about them, I will forever love aviators.

Makin' Stuffs

I love making things. I really really do. I can't help it. Luckily I'm impulsive, yet lazy, so I don't have a house full of unfinished craft things. Either I make it or I don't, no forward planning.

These little guys I made about a month ago. Had two days where I had absolutely nothing to do but sit around and watch TV.
I found the back of scraps we use to test to sewing machine on. Decided to liberate a few of the nicer pieces, and made myself an alien. I drew a quick sketch on the racing guide from the paper, and just made it up as I went along. Confusing but fun. Watched a few episodes of NCIS, SVU and other abbreviations, and voila! Then the next day I decided I'd make a vampire. Drew some more sketches, and actually drew a very rough pattern, on the obituries page no less. Really did need a pattern this time, because I wanted to make a fully lined cape for the little biter. He's got a snap closure to keep to shut, with a shiny red bead to disguise the fact that I'd forgotten to sew the closure in before turning the cape inside out. Next time I'm making him on a larger scale, because all those tiny hand-stitches nearly made me blind. Very cute though. Just maybe not worth it in the long run.

Palm Sugar

Spent NYE at the beach. Very good. Also very full of drunken idiots who like to stand in the middle of busy roads, and block the doorway to the pizza place. And the supermarket. And the video rental. And basically ever other place one goes to while in a beach town. But lucky for me the owner of the pizzeria recognises me as a local (he's kinda right), and serves me first. Suck on that one tourist folk.

Somehow after one of the many walks to the beach, only to turn around and come back, we decided to paint a wall in the house. Progress! At last! After much deliberation, and making toast, we decided on a colour called Palm Sugar. Which reminded me of the song Brown Sugar, which seemed to be a good omen. Palm Sugar is a pale brown-beige colour, which is kinda boring, but somehow our painting the one wall managed to make the "colour scheme" of the rest of the house (read: beige and Mission Brown) seem relaxed, yet modern. I'd still very much like to paint over that Mission Brown though.
